Answers to Common Questions

FAQ’s about Charlie Frangos, LPC-MHSP, CSAT, EMDR, RRT, CDWF

LPC stands for Licensed Professional Counselor.

MHSP is a part of that licensing and it stands for Mental Health Service Provider. This means that I have gone through the rigorous licensing procedures and education in the states of Tennessee and South Carolina. In addiction, the MHSP portion means that I can diagnose you for insurance reimbursement purposes.

CSAT stands for Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. This means I have undergone the rigorous training (160 hours of class work, at least 30 hours of supervision and 5 years of experience) to help people and their families deal with the ravages of sex addiction.

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. This is a specialized certification for a process that helps people heal from traumas and find resilience in dealing with everyday life.

RRT stands for Rapid Resolution Therapy. This is specialized training that involves hypnotherapy and specific counseling skills to help you heal from your traumas.

CDWF stands for Certified Daring Way Facilitator. Briefly, this means that I have had extensive training (to the point of training other professionals) to help people heal from shame and gain shame resilience. Daring Way is based on a book authored by Brene’ Brown.

My regular individual session rate is $125. Regular sessions are 50 minutes. Your first session will be a bit longer…80 minutes. The cost of the initial session is $170.

Other sessions lasting 80 minutes with a cost of $170 include:

  • Sessions involving more than one person (think couples or families)
  • Individual trauma session (EMDR or similar)

I am considered to be an “out-of-network” provider by insurance companies.  I will have a professional relationship with you…not with your insurance company.  Full payment for services is expected at the time of your appointment.  I am able to provide you with a “Super Bill” so that you can file an insurance claim for my services, if you so choose.

To determine if you have “out-of-network” mental health coverage through your insurance carrier, the first thing you should do is call them.  Check your coverage carefully and make sure you understand their answers.  Some helpful questions you can ask them:

  • What are my mental health benefits?
  • What are my “out-of-network” benefits?
  • How do I file claims for services?
  • How much does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider?
  • Is a referral or approval required from my primary care physician?

Cash, check and most major debit or credit cards are accepted for payment. If you’d like to reduce your costs a bit, you can buy a package of 5 sessions (after your initial session). The discounted rates are:

  • $500 for 5 regular individual sessions (50 minutes each)
  • $750 for 5 extended sessions (80 minutes each)

If you do not show up for your scheduled appointment and have not notified me (and received confirmation) at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session. I do conduct sessions using secure video conferencing or by phone from time to time as a convenience to my clients that can’t make it into the office. This may be a suitable alternative if you were not able to cancel more than 24 hours before your appointment.

If you are a new client interested in working with me, the best way to set-up a time for your initial 15-minute session is to use the form on the Appointment Request page. Current or past clients can call me at 843-779-5828 and I will work with you to find a mutually convenient time. To make it easier on everyone, this is one of the closing items that is typically taken care of at the end of every session…we book the next one.

Joining a therapy group is a great way to accelerate your progress. I facilitate recovery groups for men, women and couples. Please contact me to see if you are a good match for an existing group with availability.

This is a tough one! I have asked my clients this question and the words I have heard the most are…

  • Intense
  • Healing
  • Challenging
  • Insightful
  • Direct
  • Empathetic

I am old enough to call a spade a spade and to have seen a lot in my life, but young enough to have a real passion for your journey, your pain, and your healing.
